Atlanta Private Jet Charter

Private jet charters in Atlanta fly mainly from DeKalb-Peachtree (PDK), about 15–25 minutes from Buckhead, and Fulton County Executive (FTY), about 15–25 minutes from Downtown, with Cobb County International (RYY) serving the northwest suburbs and Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) reserved for large groups and heavy jets. Charter flights from Atlanta start around $9,500 for a light jet, and most trips can be arranged with 24 to 48 hours’ notice outside major event weeks.

Atlanta is the corporate capital of the Southeast and one of the most active private aviation markets in the country. The metro is home to a long list of Fortune 500 headquarters, and most of the eastern United States sits within two hours of its runways, which makes it a natural origin for same-day business trips to New York, Washington, Dallas, and Chicago. On the leisure side, Atlanta travelers fly south to Palm Beach, Naples, Sea Island, and the Gulf Coast, and west to the Rockies in ski season. Inbound demand is just as steady: sports, film production, conventions, and a calendar of major events bring a constant flow of arriving aircraft.

Very little of that traffic touches Hartsfield-Jackson. Most private flyers use DeKalb-Peachtree, the default for Buckhead, Midtown, Perimeter Center, and Alpharetta. But PDK is not always the right answer. Fulton County Executive is closer to Downtown, the west side, and the southwest film studios, and its tower stays open around the clock for late arrivals. Cobb County International serves Marietta, Kennesaw, and the Battery, and is often the easiest ramp in the metro on event weekends. Hartsfield-Jackson earns its place for team charters, large groups, and heavy jets departing at full fuel. We position every trip on the airport that fits the itinerary — including when the familiar choice would cost you time on I-285.

Airports Serving Atlanta

Airport Drive to Buckhead / Midtown FBOs Customs Best For
DeKalb-Peachtree (PDK) 15–30 min Signature Aviation, Atlantic Aviation, Aero Center Atlanta Yes Buckhead, Midtown, Perimeter Center, and Alpharetta. Atlanta’s busiest private field, with a 6,001-ft main runway; the tower closes overnight and landing fees apply as of 2026.
Fulton County Executive (FTY) 20–35 min Signature Aviation, Hill Aircraft Yes Downtown, the stadium district, the west side, and the film studios. 24-hour tower; the 5,797-ft runway can limit fuel loads on long-range departures.
Cobb County International (RYY) 30–50 min Ascension Yes Marietta, Kennesaw, Vinings, and the Battery. Longest general aviation runway in the metro at 6,295 ft, and a useful overflow ramp on event weekends.
Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL) 25–45 min Signature Aviation Yes Team and group charters, airliner-size aircraft, and heavy jets departing at full fuel. Signature’s separate terminal keeps passengers away from the commercial side, but expect longer taxi times and higher fees.

Seasonal & Event Demand

The Masters (early April) — Augusta is roughly a 40-minute flight from Atlanta, and Masters week produces some of the tightest aircraft availability in the Southeast as jets from across the country position into Augusta. Light jets for Atlanta day trips should be booked several weeks ahead. Many clients stay in Atlanta and fly in each morning, which avoids Augusta’s lodging premiums entirely.

TOUR Championship at East Lake (late August, through 2027) — The PGA Tour’s season finale brings a wave of corporate hospitality arrivals into PDK and FTY, both about 25–35 minutes from East Lake. The event moves to a rotating venue schedule in 2028, so 2026 and 2027 are the last guaranteed years in Atlanta. Book ramp space early for arrivals on the Wednesday and Thursday before play begins.

SEC Championship and the Peach Bowl (early December through New Year’s) — Back-to-back college football at Mercedes-Benz Stadium fills every metro FBO. Team charters use Hartsfield-Jackson, while fan and hospitality traffic concentrates at PDK and FTY. Reserve parking with the FBO when you book, and expect a departure surge the morning after each game; an evening-of departure is often easier to secure.

Holiday migration south and west (Thanksgiving through mid-January) — Atlanta families head to Palm Beach, Naples, Sea Island, and the Gulf Coast, and to Aspen and Vail once ski season opens. Outbound pricing peaks around the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the days before Christmas. The aircraft that carry those trips often return to Atlanta empty, and reposition south again ahead of the return in early January, which creates genuine one-way value for flexible travelers on both ends of the holiday.

Super Bowl LXII (February 13, 2028) — Atlanta hosts its fourth Super Bowl, and the city’s private airports should be expected to operate under special arrival and parking reservation programs. Aircraft and ramp space for that weekend should be secured during 2027. Cobb County and other outlying fields will absorb overflow, and we plan ground transfers accordingly.

Local Knowledge

Drive time, not flight time, is what decides most Atlanta trips. PDK to Buckhead can take 15 minutes at midday and 40 minutes at 5:30 p.m., and a trip that crosses I-285 or the Downtown Connector at rush hour can double in length, so we pick the airport by where you are going and when. Summer is the other variable: from June through September, afternoon thunderstorms regularly trigger traffic flow programs across all of Atlanta’s airspace, not just Hartsfield-Jackson, and a 4 p.m. departure from PDK can sit for an hour while a 10 a.m. departure goes on time. Winter is mild, but the region has limited snow and ice equipment, and a rare quarter-inch of freezing rain can close roads for a day even when the runways reopen within hours; on those days the drive is the constraint. For late arrivals, Fulton County’s round-the-clock tower is the simplest option, while PDK’s tower closes overnight and the airport asks operators to observe noise-abatement procedures. International arrivals at PDK, FTY, and RYY clear CBP plane-side by appointment, generally during daytime hours, so we build those itineraries around the customs window.
